Lumis Data healthcare provider roster management platform

Overview

Lumis Data was a SaaS platform I co-founded with someone I met through Y Combinator. We built it to help healthcare organizations manage their provider rosters — the lists of doctors, nurses, and other providers that insurers and regulators rely on to process claims and verify credentials.

The problem

Inaccurate provider data is one of the biggest hidden costs in healthcare. When a provider’s information is wrong or outdated — a lapsed license, a mismatched NPI number, a stale address — claims get denied. Denied claims mean lost revenue, wasted staff time on resubmissions, and delayed care. Most organizations were catching these issues reactively, after the damage was already done.

What we built

Lumis Data monitored provider rosters and flagged problems before they caused claim denials. The platform checked for license expirations, identified data inaccuracies and discrepancies across systems, and surfaced incorrect or outdated information that would otherwise slip through. Instead of manually auditing spreadsheets, credentialing teams could see exactly what needed attention and fix it proactively.

What happened

We were making real progress proving out market fit when my co-founder decided to step away. Without his connections in the healthcare space — a notoriously relationship-driven industry — I made the difficult decision not to continue solo. It was the right call, but the problem we were solving remains a real and expensive one for healthcare organizations.
